Jeff Bennington writes insightful posts on his experiences as a writer and as a provider of services to self-published authors.  He’s very active on Twitter and on other social media sites.    Here is his blog site -

————————————————————————————————————

As an indie author I have to confess that I am guilty of believing a lie — not just one, but many. They are the same lies I see self-published authors fall for all the time. I see the lies in tweets, in emails, in DM’s and blog posts. The lies run rampant. The lies are deadly. The lies set writers up for failure and they are like a disease that has the potential to thin out the indie author population within a couple of years.

I can’t believe how lucky I am to have a fan like Jill.  She took  Shades of Gray on a worldwide cruise (New Zealand to her home in England)  and had a few adventures.  So we all get a few great pics to look at!

——————————————————————–

I saw the request on your website in February for photos of your book in some of the places it was sent. That request came at an interesting time for me – I was about to leave New Zealand, where I’d been living for a year, to return home to England and I was taking the slow route back by sea to visit some places along the way. I thought it could be quite fun if I found somewhere good to get a shot in each of these. So your book lived in my bag for a couple of months and I took pictures of it everywhere.

Here’s an interesting chart.     Still wondering why bookstores are closing??   By my research the fastest growing market will be Europe.  The US has been on a roll in regards to adoption of e-Readers.  Growth will continue, but at a less robust rate.    This, in my humble opinion, bodes well for those that create quality content for e-Readers.  People love their books and enjoy good stories.

Consumers have spoken with a voice that is loud and clear –   e-Readers are a better delivery device for books.      Not surprisingly,  the projected growth of eBooks sales correlates rather closely to the growth in

e-Readers (see bottom paragraph).     ** Please note that this is a VERY VERY unscientific assessment from a true newbie to the industry.  Take all comments with a grain of salt and a tequila shot, followed by a lemon wedge.

This is very valuable info from Russell Blake, who some call the “Hardest Worker Author in Indie Publishing”.   Others call him the “Biggest Consumer of Tequila in

Indie Publishing”.   Either way, he’s a smart, hardworking writer who is willing to share his escapades, numbers, and ideas.   He’s encouraging……  and funny.

Here’s his blog site –      http://russellblake.com/

and check out his latest release on Amazon,  The Voynich Cyper      (and, pssst, he’s got a BUNCH of other titles too)

To say that “Breaking Bad” is a good TV show, is to say that Mark Twain was a good writer.  Simply stated, Breaking Bad is one of the very best TV shows of the last 10 years.

So – despite Mama’s best advice about not giving it away for free,  I’m doing it anyway.      (click here)

Grab an eBook copy of  ”Shades of Gray” for your Kindle or other eBook reading device today  before they sell out.  (silly boy, eBooks don’t sell out!)

Also,  because I’m such a “swell” guy, I’m also throwing in a free interview for you to listen to that was recorded yesterday (4/10/2012) on our local NPR affiliate, WUNC – FM.   I visited with the mega-cool Frank Stasio on his show – “The State of Things”  which highlights the arts, news, and all things North Carolina.      Here you go.  (excuse my rough voice, have a little cold)

Hope you enjoy the book and don’t forget to show a brother a little luv by posting a review on Amazon and/or GoodReads.  Just a sentence  or two is enough lovin’ for me.  Remember, I’m cheap. (smile)      (click here)
